Carrie Jones

Carrie Jones, ND, FABNE, MPH is an internationally recognized speaker, consultant, and educator on the topic of women’s health and hormones. Dr. Jones graduated from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon where she also completed a 2-year residency in women’s health, hormones, and endocrinology. Later, she graduated from Grand Canyon University’s Master of Public Health program.  Dr. Jones was one of the first to became board certified through the American Board of Naturopathic Endocrinology and currently serves on the board.  She was the Medical Director for the DUTCH Test for several years and is the Clinical Expert for the SOS Stress Recover Program for the Lifestyle Matrix Resource Center and on the Under Armour’s Council on Human Performance. Currently, she is the Head of Medical Education at Rupa Health.

Shilpa P. Saxena

Shilpa P. Saxena, MD is a Board-Certified Family Practice physician whose passion and purpose come to life through sharing her innovative patient education and practice management solutions in her classic ‘keep it simple’ style. She is the Chief Medical Officer of Forum Health, the first nationwide network of integrative medicine providers. She serves as faculty with the Institute for Functional Medicine, the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, Osher Center for Integrative Medicine, the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, the Metabolic Medical Institute at George Washington University and most recently, joined the Lifestyle Matrix Resource Center serving as the Clinical Expert for the CM Vitals Program. Dr. Saxena is an expert in the Group Visit medical model, creator of Group Visit Toolkits, and co-author of The Ingredients Matter: India.

Jim LaValle

Jim is a nationally recognized clinical pharmacist, author, and board-certified clinical nutritionist. He is the author of 16 e-books and 20 books, including Drug-Induced Nutrient Depletion Handbook, one of the references we utilize for our Pharmace Replete tear sheet. He has also written hundreds of articles for a variety of industry journals and publications, and has lectured for thousands of health care professionals and consumer audiences globally on these topics.

Jim served as an adjunct associate professor at Cincinnati College of Pharmacy for over 14 years and served as adjunct professor in metabolic medicine at the University of South Florida Medical School. He is currently an instructor for the Fellowship for Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine, which trains physicians and other health care professionals on the application of natural therapies into their contemporary practices. Jim is truly a leader in this area. He is a favorite interviewee for the media related to natural care, and has done more than 500 media appearances in television and radio.

Jim also practices what he preaches. In 2001, he founded and operated LaValle Metabolic Institute, an interdisciplinary medicine facility in Cincinnati. Jim led teams of clinicians and this institute to a pre-eminent status. He also founded Metabolic Code Enterprises, Inc., a web platform and practice solution enterprise. Jim has been a key influencer in the industry since the 1990s.

Andrew Heyman

Andrew Heyman, MD, MHSA is an internationally recognized expert in Integrative Medicine. He is currently the Program Director of Integrative and Metabolic Medicine at The George Washington University. Prior to assuming this role, he spent 16 years at the University of Michigan, serving to build one of the largest and most successful academic-based Integrative Medicine programs in the United States.

Dr. Heyman has held several leadership positions in the field of Integrative Medicine. He was the national clinical working group co-chair of the Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine for 4 years, a collaboration of 57 North American universities involved in Integrative Medicine. He is the online editor for the Journal of Men’s Health in the section of Integrative Medicine, and he also holds the position of Editor-In-Chief of the Internet Journal of Anti-Aging and Aesthetic Medicine. His research interests include the Stress response and Neuroendocrinology, Genomics, Immunology, and clinical outcomes research methodologies.

Dr. Heyman remains clinically active as well, as the owner of a four-physician integrative medicine practice in Northern Virginia at the Virginia Center for Health and Wellness. He is also the President of Integrative Health Resources, a small group of clinical experts that consults to physicians, health systems and public health professionals seeking to develop wellness, lifestyle and nutrition programs. His teaching approach is described as deeply rooted in scientific evidence, grounded in the clinical reality of expert patient care, and readily accessible to both the new learner and seasoned practitioner alike.

Jeff Robins

Jeff Robins is a functional medicine pharmacist who has been practicing pharmacy for over 25 years. He is a good friend of Ortho Molecular Products and has been working as our pharmacy clinical expert for over 4 years. Jeff has played a major role in each of our Pharmacy Symposiums in the past. Anyone who has been to one of our Pharmacy Symposiums will know Jeff.

Jeff graduated from the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy with a bachelor’s in science degree in pharmacy. After he found his love for functional medicine, he worked hard to become an advanced fellow of the American Academy of Anti-Aging and Functional Medicine through the University of South Florida. He has worked in both the traditional retail pharmacy and compounding pharmacy models, but he is best known for his very successful pharmacy in Peoria, IL. Jeff started a consulting service in his compounding pharmacy and grew the dietary supplement sales at Essential Wellness Pharmacy to over $1.2 million annual sales before selling the store to a colleague a couple years ago. Jeff worked one-on-one with many patients utilizing the functional medicine approach making a difference in their lives. Over the years Jeff has become known as the pharmacists who dislikes drugs.

Several years ago, he took all those business/clinical experiences and started a consulting business, Summit Functional Consulting where he works with pharmacies across the country. Jeff is also very busy helping Ortho Molecular Products connect to the independent pharmacies. Jeff hosts the quarterly Pharmace webinars where he brings his clinical and pharmacy operations knowledge to pharmacists looking to enhance their patient care or increase front end sales. Jeff frequently brings his experiences to the national stage when he does presentations for various pharmacy conferences or groups. Jeff is also highlighted in a series of education videos on the Pharmace website where he offers his insights on a host of clinical and pharmacy business topics.

Jeff and his wife Stacy now live in Colorado where he enjoys the outdoors always looking for the next adventure hiking/climbing, mountain biking, car racing, or scuba diving.

Nicole Grams

Dr. Nicole Grams, PharmD, IFMCP candidate, is a Functional Medicine pharmacist seeing patients in Wisconsin. She knows that long-lasting lifestyle changes require a great deal of inner work alongside the outer, so she combines Functional Medicine with holistic life and health coaching, creating the opportunity for patients to tap into their full potential to restore their health. 

Dr. Grams graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy (2011), founded Offbeat Health in 2019 and joined the PharmToTable team in 2020. She is currently pursuing practitioner certification through The Institute for Functional Medicine. 

James Maskell

On a mission to flatten the curve of healthcare costs, James Maskell has spent the past decade innovating at the cross section of functional medicine and community. To that end, he created the Functional Forum, the world’s largest integrative medicine conference with record-setting participation online and growing physician communities around the world. His organization and best selling book of the same name, Evolution of Medicine, prepares health professionals for this new era of personalized, participatory medicine.

His new project, FindFunctional, makes functional medicine affordable and accessible for all. He is an in demand speaker and impresario, being featured on TEDMED, HuffPostLive and TEDx, as well as lecturing internationally. He lives in Sacramento, CA with his wife and daughter.

Vanessa Lesneski

Vanessa Lesneski is an Assistant Professor in Pharmacy Practice at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine School of Pharmacy Distance Education pathway. Her areas of expertise include pharmacogenetics, nutrition, and pharmacotherapy. She is the course coordinator for “Functional Pharmacy,” an online elective for second and third year pharmacy students across all three pathways at LECOM, Florida, Erie, and DE.  The elective introduces functional medicine and other complementary and/or alternative therapies.  The instructors include Dr. Lesneski and volunteers who practice in the area of functional medicine or CAM.  The objective of the class is to introduce alternative treatment modalities and encourage the student to objectively and critically “think outside the box.” Vanessa also runs a practice site at Forum Health for pharmacy students to obtain hands on training. 

Blair Thielemier

Blair Thielemier, PharmD, is an MTM consultant pharmacist specializing in pharmacy billing models. She consults on and produces e-learning programs for state and national organizations, pharmacy wholesalers, payers, technology start-ups.  She has books and online courses available for individuals looking to leverage their pharmacy knowledge into monetized clinical programs at PharmapreneurAcademy.com. She speaks internationally about trends in leveraging pharmacists to improve value-based care.

Sara Gottfried

Sara Gottfried MD is a board-certified gynecologist and physician scientist. She graduated from Harvard Medical School and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and completed residency at the University of California at San Francisco. 

She is Clinical Assistant Professor in Dept. of Integrative Medicine and Nutritional Sciences at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University, and Director of Precision Medicine at the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health
