Lara Zakaria is a Pharmacist and Clinical Nutritionist specializing in Functional Medicine. Combining her background in pharmacy and training in Functional Nutrition, Lara designs personalized protocols that incorporate whole food, herbs, nutrigenomics/pharmacogenomics, medication history, and lifestyle modification to optimize patient health outcomes.
Lara’s passion for nutrition and Functional Medicine began when she realized her pharmacy practice was full of patients frustrated with their growing list medications and declining health.
After 15 years in community pharmacy, Lara was craving a more holistic approach to patient care. She decided to pursue her passion for nutrition and personalized medicine – first by earning a Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Bridgeport, and then pursuing Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM) training and certification.
Lara is founder of Foodie Farmacist, LLC , a consulting company focused on delivering patient-centered Functional Medicine care to manage chronic conditions including metabolic and autoimmune disease. Her focus is split between direct patient practice and professional development programs for Functional Medicine professionals.
After watching so many patients being failed by the current system, I felt that it was time to return to the basics: the patient, the practitioners, the pharmacist. Together, we can create a team to better serve the health and overall wellbeing of our patients’ unique needs through tailor-made, individualized service.
After over a decade of pharmaceutical experience, it has become evident to me that there is the possibility of a middle ground between pharmaceutical drugs and a more balanced approach that combines scientific advancements in more natural ways. We know too much to ignore the right way to care for patients.
With my extensive experience in bio-identical hormone therapy, compounding, and MTM counseling, I believe that we can work towards helping our patients achieve healthier, happier lives.

Dr. Beth Ann Davenport, PharmD, AFMCP is a clinical pharmacist turned Functional Medicine Wellness Consultant. She curates customized Functional Medicine wellness plans to optimize patient’s physical, mental, and spiritual health by addressing daily structure, nutrition, hydration, movement, stress management, and sleep.
Beth Ann is a graduate of University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (2010) and began her career as a pharmacy manager for Target Pharmacy upon graduation. She transitioned into a clinical position for Kroger Pharmacy three years later, focusing on Medication Therapy Management, routine and travel immunizations, biometric screenings and health coaching services covering 13 of Kroger’s 28 pharmacies in Arkansas.
Following the birth of her second child and then adoption of her third just months later, Beth Ann began studying natural and alternative medicine to improve her own health. After incorporating these principles into both her life and work, she discovered the discipline of Functional Medicine and quickly realized her home state, one of the least healthy in the nation, had a tremendous need for the information she was learning. She founded Prescription Wellness, a Functional Medicine wellness consultation company in 2018, offering individual, group, and corporate wellness consultations in addition to pharmacogenomic, nutrigenomic, and food sensitivity testing.
Dr. Abbi Linde graduated from University of Miami – Florida is 2007 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and a minor in Psychology and then returned to the Midwest and graduated from UW-Madison with a PharmD in 2011. During pharmacy school, she participated in an independent study that combined motivational interviewing and nutrition (the beginning of her health coaching interest) and professed a desire to be the pharmacist that gets patients off their meds.
As she practiced as a pharmacist, she watched her patients getting sicker and sicker. She also saw her own health deteriorate after having two children and experienced extreme fatigue, headaches, and mood changes. This was a turning point for her and kicked off a journey that began with finding non toxic cleaning solutions and continues to this day!
Dr. Linde became a Certified Health Coach after attending The Institute for Integrative Nutrition. This program focused on the lifestyle aspects of health: relationships, movement, spirituality, and career. These key factors continue to be important components of making lasting lifestyle changes. Becoming a Primal Health Coach next exposed her to the concept of ancestral health; this is based on the examination of our evolutionary history for clues about how to live our optimal lives in the modern world.
Most recently, she is pursuing a certification through the Institute for Functional Medicine. This is what has driven her to transform her pharmacy in Beaver Dam into a Wellness Center. It will be a central site (as part of a grocery store – Food is medicine!) where clients will go to get truly healthy, as opposed to staying sick. As a pharmacist, we support patients in “managing” their chronic conditions. My true passion is to educate them about the possibility of preventing or reversing these chronic lifestyle conditions. My goal is to help patients find a way of eating and living that is just right for each individual by taking genetics, history, culture, stress, sleep, nutrition and fitness into account. By integrating the principles of ancestral health and functional medicine, she can support my clients in using food as medicine to really live their best lives.
